On May 23, 2013, the United States Department of Agriculture published a final rule changing the requirements for country of origin labeling for muscle cuts of beef (including veal), chicken, lamb, pork and goat. The new regulation requires the production steps to be listed (e.g. born, raised and slaughtered) for product of U.S. origin and product of mixed U.S.-foreign origin.
